DUBLIN, Ireland: Taoiseach Micheal Martin said on Monday that media reports are incorrect and U.S. President Joe Biden will not visit Ireland in October.
Within past days, repeated media reports said Biden was planning an official visit to Ireland.
"I have no evidence of that," he said.
"That's a matter for the President. He is always welcome in Ireland and I have said that to him," Marin added, as reported by RTE.
"He is looking forward to coming to Ireland at some stage, but there are not dates or anything like that," he noted.
Still, Marin said, officials in both governments have had general discussions about a future visit.
"There's an open invitation to President Biden, but we have had no confirmation, no evidence, no indication of a visit from President Biden," Martin said.
Martin said that Biden is focused on the war in Ukraine, making such a visit to Ireland even less likely.
"And that's the big issue at the moment," the Taoiseach said.
